Ready, Set, Go! Explore things that move, lift, power and more! A different theme each day. Lots to make and see as we explore and build. This week will include hands-on opportunities that engage campers in individual and cooperative building challenges, and test their machines during friendly competition. Check out the topic list below.
This class requires no prior experience and is designed for incoming 2 through 8th graders. This camp is available weekly or by the day as part of our Super STEAM miniCAMPs (see individual miniCAMPs for daily descriptions).
Camp includes:
*In-person, interactive meetings daily
*Materials Use, and some Make & Take opportunities
*Direct access to Instructor during scheduled camp time

Can't do the whole week? Check our Super STEAM miniCamp program for individual dates:
Mo 6/26 1:00pm-4:30pm "Simple Machines" Learn what makes a machine and how to use them to complete a task. Then use what you learned to build and test your creation in this hands-on class. We will explore things that move, launch, and more! May fulfill Girl Scout Badge requirements; please ask for details.
Tu 6/27 1:00pm-4:30pm "Solar House" Campers will explore energy conversion and design a passive solar house based on criteria and constraints. By using critical thinking, communication, and collaboration in this challenge, students prepare for essential skills of the 21st century. Students work through the Engineering Design Process – to learn the value of rethinking and supporting multiple solutions.
We 6/28 1:00pm-4:30pm "Short Circuits (Electricity)" This camp focuses on a basic introduction to electricity and circuits. Campers will learn the basics of electricity through various activities like experimenting with static electricity, creating sensors, building circuits and so much more! By the end of the session, campers should know how basic electronic devices work and have ideas on how to make the world a better place, using their brain POWER.
Th 6/29 1:00pm-4:30pm "Hydraulic Arm" (Make & Take!) Build your own hydraulic robotic arm! Using the kit provided, an instructor will lead you through constructing this real, working animatronic machine. You will learn Engineering, Construction, and Creative Problem Solving. This camp is recommended for grades 3-8+ and great for older students; an assistant should be available to physically assist younger students during class. May fulfill Girl Scout Badge requirements; ask for details. Limit 9 students.
Fr 6/30 1:00pm-4:30pm "Exploring Engineering" Students will explore the Engineering Design Process by working through different design and building tasks. Lots of hands-on and collaborative work in this fun afternoon camp.
