Cost: Required a STEAM On membership and a one-time payment of $75 for the entire regular season (through EXPO). Travel costs and other expenses will have to be covered by the families. We also have scholarship options available. If you have questions about this, please contact info@STEAMOn.net.

What: FIRST® LEGO® League Explore (Formerly FIRST® LEGO® League Junior) is an international exhibition organized by FIRST® for elementary school students (ages 6–10). Each year in August, FIRST® LEGO® League Explore introduces a scientific and real-world challenge for teams to focus and research on. The robotics part of the competition involves designing and programming a LEGO® WeDo 2.0 or LEGO® Prime Essential motorized model/diorama that represents the team's research project. The students work out solutions to the various problems they are given and then meet for regional exhibitions to share their knowledge, compare ideas, and display their models and research projects.

FIRST® LEGO® League Explore is a partnership between FIRST® and the LEGO® Group. It also has a scaled-up robotics program for children ages 9–14 called FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge.

Where: We will be hosting teams at several locations in the CR metro area, including NE CR/Marion and NW CR. We will expand to more of our locations as teams are formed. In addition, some of our Partner Affiliates will be hosting teams at their own facilities.

When: STEAM On wants to make FIRST® LEGO® League Explore available to as many people as possible, this is why we are offering a few different time slots. These time slots will be chosen by the coaches and mentors on the teams. When you apply we will make sure it can work with your schedule.

Why: The primary goal of FIRST® LEGO® League Explore is to provide an engaging experience for students and mentors to foster future engineers and other STEAM jobs. We want to provide a research-oriented experience for all who are wanting to learn about cool topics. We aim to equip everyone involved with new tools that they will be able to use throughout their lifetimes.
